EXPAT DOCTORS TO LOSE JOBS

Last week saw a major shuffle of senior positions within the Saudi government. Reports are surfacing from local and international news publications that the health sector will be going through a complete revamp. The new health minister, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah has announced an 11 point plan.
The key points revolve around making the whole sector paper-less and introducing new procedures for hiring of management officials. One key point was that no doctor or specialist will hold any administrative position. Another key focus are expatriates working as doctors.
According to the new 11-point plan, any doctor or specialist who has spent more than 10 years in Saudi Arabia will not be able to renew their Iqama or Muqeem Cards.
On the other hand, expat consultants will be limited to 15 years in the Kingdom. No expats will be able to hold administrative positions.
